Welcome!

You are on your way to helping many kids.

You need to do these things at least a full day before you teach.

PLEASE RECORD YOUR TIME DOING THESE THINGS. THEY ARE PART OF YOUR CLIMB WORK.
You deserve and you get paid for the time doing this training though, obviously, when you shift from the training to answering a personal message or to play a game, don’t include that as part of your time.

FIRST
DO THESE 7 THINGS Before each Session of Classes

1. Review the climb-staff-expectations-online-short.pptx 15 minutes

2. Read the Mandatory Reporter Info Sheet 5 to 10 minutes
you are required by law to report child abuse you reasonably believe is happening or has happened to a minor.

3. Teaching with Climb 5 to 10 minutes
includes working with beginners and adjusting your lectures for your style.

4. Update your computer/tablet software/operating system/anti-virus. (even if you are teaching in-person)

5. Update your Zoom 2 to 10 minutes (even if you are teaching in-person)

Problems with your Internet Connection? Zoom? PowerPoint use?
Contact Jim Hanson as soon as possible.

6. IF YOU ARE TEACHING ONLINE: Test your Internet Connection 2 minutes
(Should be 10+mb down, 5+mb up or higher; you should test during Mon-Fri at the time when you will teach) IF YOUR INTERNET DOES NOT MEET THIS SPEED—CONTACT JIM ASAP.

7. Take the Staff Instruction Quiz 15-20 minutes

SECOND
DO THESE IF YOU ARE TEACHING ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Review the Program Instruction you are doing (skim the PowerPoints, teaching instructions) and take the quiz for that program.

We would expect this will take about an hour for each program you are instructing.

You take the Quiz once. You do not need to take that quiz again.

THIRD
TEACHING WITH CLIMB FOR THE FIRST TIME

You will meet over Zoom for 30-60 minutes (depends on the number of new instructors) with our Instruction Leader.

You will do a 7-10 minute sample instruction using one of our PowerPoints (which you can adjust if you wish). Our Instruction Leader will give you feedback and help in doing your instruction.

You will also be able to ask questions about teaching with Climb and get some tips from our Instruction Leader.

FOURTH
DO THIS ONCE EACH YEAR

Take the Staff Handle Issues Quiz 30-40 minutes

FIFTH
DO THIS ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS

Complete Child Abuse Prevention Training.

The fee is $15. When you do your timesheet—be sure to request to be reimbursed for this fee.
