GIVING SPEAKER POINTS

You give Points from 61 to 99.

91 to 99 is for kids that are supportive and inclusive, use great supporting material that is interesting and well documented, do their type of speech REALLY well, have great delivery, and speak for the full time of their speech.

61 to 69 is for kids that need to be more supportive and less rude, use supporting material that needs to be stronger and/or more engaging, need to do their type of speech more ‘correctly,’ be more clear, energetic, connecting in their delivery, and need to use MUCH more of their speaking time.

Scores from 70 to 89 are most common and are for speaking between the two above.

HARMONIZE YOUR POINTS

It is important to be accurate rather than “nice” or “tough.”

Try to harmonize your points with other judges so that students are not put at a disadvantage nor an advantage when they get you as a judge. Your point giving should be consistent and equitable with other judges.
