The Seattle U Summer Tournaments, held on the Saturday after our camps, provide a great opportunity to put your speaking and debating skills into action.

The tournament can be experienced IN PERSON or ONLINE (Zoom) and there are additional fees to participate (you pay when you register—see below).

 

BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT

 

BY TUESDAY AUGUST 16: EVERY STUDENT—PARENT MUST:

 

1. UNDERSTAND KEY TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

--The Tournament happens IN PERSON or ONLINE—you choose which you prefer. Note that if you are in-person, debates happen in classrooms, announcements and postings still happen on Zoom so YOU NEED A COMPUTER either way.

DEBATERS: Arrive at 10:30am, 3 Debates that finish at 4:00pm

SPEAKERS: Arrive at 11:10am, Give your speech TWO TIMES in 2 Speech Rounds that finish at 2:40pm

Awards happens at 4:10pm, finish 4:30pm

--Debaters: Have your cases and responses ready to go.

--Speakers: Have your speeches ready to present.

4. REVIEW THE RULES, SCHEDULE, TOPICS, EVENTS

NOTE: It is important that you attend for ALL 3 DEBATES (debate) and/or for ALL 2 SPEECH ROUNDS (speakers). You need to be ON TIME. You are encouraged to attend Awards.

 

5. Check the August 2022 List of Teams and Speakers

Teams and Speakers get listed on Wednesday night, the week of the camp.

ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT

 

YOU MUST BRING A WORKING LAPTOP, CHARGED, AND WITH ZOOM/WIFI—EVEN IF YOU ARE IN-PERSON.

DEBATE: BETWEEN 10:30 and 10:40AM, CHECK IN TO ZOOM OR IN-PERSON IN THE LOBBY.
POSTINGS AT 10:50AM IN ZOOM MAIN MEETING ROOM

SPEECH: BETWEEN 11:10 AND 11:20 AM, CHECK IN TO ZOOM OR IN PERSON IN THE LOBBY

CLIMBERS: Check-in Zoom Room 1. In Person-meet in the Pigott Lobby and report to our staff to check-in.

 

PARKING?
--Go to Pigott Auditorium Seattle U. Park in Pigott parking lot (12th and Marion: 963 12th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122).
--Put the Paybyphone.com app onto your phone including credit card. $17 to park.
--If Pigott parking lot is full—go to 806 Broadway for the Broadway Garage.

 

DROP OFF? Go into Seattle U on the road to the Pigott parking lot (12th and Marion: 963 12th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122) and drop off at the end of the road (rather than going into the parking lot on the right).

 

GO TO EAST SIDE ENTRANCE OF PIGOTT TO GET IN (facing the parking lot).
