IPDA Debate

ONE OPEN DIVISION WITH NOVICE BREAKOUT: We will offer IPDA debate in one division with a separate novice breakout.

SPEAKING AND PREP TIMES: We will use the 5-2-6-2-3-5-3 format with 25 minutes of preparation time (exact start time announced at topic announcement). Debaters will be presented with five resolutions; each debater will be allowed to strike two resolutions, thus leaving one resolution to be debated.

DEBATER WIN-LOSS AWARDS: All elimination participants with honorary awards to the remaining top participants.

DEBATE SPEAKER AWARDS: Top speakers plus honorary awards for the remaining top participants. Adjusted speaker points (drop high-lows); Total Speaker points; Z score.

ONLINE DEBATING: Both debaters will debate online—students/judges at UW Bothell, please bring laptops with webcams; we will also have 2 laptops available.

IPDA RULES: IPDA debate will use rules for the debates as presented in the IPDA constitution, which can be found at http://www.ipdadebate.info/constitution—bylaws.html
